This place has been teachiong guitar for a long time and has a great reputation. Don’t be confused by the name. They will give you the best basics and techniques:

depends where in chicago. my bf gives lessons in the far south suburbs (guitarlessonsbyscott.com). i have screened other teachers in the chicago area. you would have to check into pricing. you want minimum 1 hour lessons and you want to learn theory.
is in the city near the united center
CGL.com is in the north side of chicago
is in the western burbs

Just to Guitar Center they have Guitar Lessons to offer If not they can tell where to go and whose the Best.
