I οnlу found two books thаt give thе scores fοr рοрυlаr songs, mаdе јυѕt fοr thе bass guitar. I’m tired οf playing basslines οnlу, I want tο play thе melody οf thе song using thе bass. Thе οnlу books thаt I found wіth thе song melodies аrе οf Christmas Carols. I lονе those books, bυt want tο find more. Dοеѕ anyone know οf аnу more books lіkе thеѕе?

Most bass players’ primary goal is to play with other people, in bands, and in a band, a bass player’s role isn’t to play the melody, its to work with the drummer to provide the rhythmic and harmonic groove for the band. So there’s not likely to be a lot of instructional material for melodic solo bass out there.

My recommendation would be to forget about finding bass guitar books, learn to read standard notation in treble clef (TONS of material available for melody instruments in treble clef) and adapt or transpose the melodies onto bass yourself. Or learn to figure stuff out for yourself by ear.

My advice chimes in with what was stated above. Figure it out yourself and play your own arangements. You may not be able to do it now but the learning experience will help develop your ears and benefit you immensely.

As you probably have found most generic songbooks have the melody line for the lyrics in them. Learn to adapt them.

As an aside. If you want to explore a lyrical approach to bass; I highly advise checking out a fretless bass. It has what you might be looking for! I looooooooove mine!
