I hаνе ѕtаrtеd taking acoustic guitar lessons wіth a friend аnd wουld lіkе tο hear уουr opinion οn songs tο listen tο fοr inspiration, аnd tο become more familiar wіth thе general style. I hаνе pretty wide ranged tastes іn music, bυt I аm aiming fοr classical tο modern rock.

Songs I learned while learning Guitar:
Hold my Hand – Hootie and the blowfish
(I’m the one who wants to) Be with you – Mr Big
Tears in heaven – Clapton
Lightning Crashes – Live
Breakfast at Tiffany’s – ???
Wicked Game – Chris Isaac
Low – Cracker
Wounded hand – Stone Temple Pilots
Black – Pearl Jam
A lot of old U2 and REM stuff is very easy. U2 tends to ride a chord progression through the whole song, REM creatively uses secondary dominants and major minors.

Elliott Smith’s early stuff is really good acoustic stuff. Some tracks:
Southern Belle:

I could list an ifinite number of amazing songs that you could learn ^^
But being you’re playing acoustic, it narrows it down.
There are still however thousands of good songs you could learn!
Nevertheless, here’s the one I recommend you:
My My, Hey Hey – Neil Young
It is an amazing song (:
Ideal for acoustic in my opinion!
Good luck

“lonely Day” -System of a Down
“Behind Blue Eyes” -The Who: not by any of the other idiots who have sung it!
“Strange” -The Doors
“knocking on Heavens Door”" Bob Dylan
“Three Marlenas” -The Wallflowers
“Wish you Were Hear” -Pink Floyd!!!
“Hurt” Johnny Cash (Again it is done right by Cash, not the others)
“Time of your life” Green day
Tenacious D is also a pretty good idea they’re fun, but they also have a really diverse and open music style to their songs.
